Uplands Cheese

Our dairy farm sits on Pleasant Ridge, in the Driftless region of southwest Wisconsin. The Driftless region was given its name because it is the one corner of the state that wasn’t scraped flat 10,000 years ago by receding glaciers, and thus doesn’t have any glacial deposits, or drift.

ANSON MILLS

At Anson Mills, they chose early on to grow and mill Carolina Gold rice and a full complement of heirloom grains adopted by Antebellum rice families, and to follow the sustainable rice-crop rotation. In some ways, they hope to restart the Carolina Rice Kitchen cuisine itself—a cuisine that depends on a complex agricultural system suited to local conditions and cultural needs.

Three Sisters Garden KANKAKEE

Taking our name from the Native American planting method of combining corn, beans, and squash in the same planting bed, and focusing mainly on New World crops, the name Three Sisters Garden, made for a good and lasting fit. Twenty years on the majority of our crop production is still tied to that New World tradition.
